Comment: Farmer, first recorded in Bucks Co. 1 Feb 1745, and recorded in Mt. Bethel as early as 8 June 1746. He is attested in Mt. Bethel in 1775, 1785, 1786, 1788 and appears there in the 1790 census with 2 males over 16 and 3 females. He was a Second Lieutenant in the Militia but was already to old to serve in the Revolutionary War. Wife Margaret. Ch: John, Margaret, Robert, Hugh and Samuel.

Comment: 1st mention is 1758 voting list “not voting” wife Mary. Both are buried (lot #'s 132 and 133) in the Presbyterian Cemetery at "Three Churches", near Martin's Creek, PA. Son Robert b: 1736 Ulster, Ireland, d: 3/9/1777, Dau. Margaret m: John Vannetten. Dau. Jennet m. John Neilson. Dau. Ann m. Samuel Rea of N.J., her dau Isabel m. Jeptha Harrison and her g-granddaughter m. Benjamin Harrison.

1736 Robert McCracken

Comment: Son of Thomas, he is recorded as a farmer in Mt. Bethel in 1772. Inventory of his estate was filed 20 June 1777 and settled 18 Nov 1779. He is presumably buried in Pennsylvania and never removed but, the DAR records show an inscription in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Pontiac, Michigan, where his wife is buried, giving the date of his death and age as 41 years. 10 Dec 1776 he was a Pvt in Capt. John Nelson's Company and died of swamp fever on 18 Mar 1777 while in the service. Wife: Mary Hutchinson. Ch: Thomas, Anna, Robert. The other sources claim or infer he is the son of Robert.

Comment: Son of Thomas, the earliest record of him is 50 acres surveyed in Bucks County, May 8 1753. He is recorded in 1772, 1775, 1776, 1785, 1790 and 1798. The 1790 census lists him with 4 males above 16 and 3 females. He served as administrator of his father's estate between 1793 and 98. He probably had more children than are shown here. During the Revolution he served as a private in Capt. Middagh's company of the Militia and as a Ranger. Wife: Elizabeth. Ch: Samuel, James, (Henry m. coz. Eleanor), Hannah and Thomas

Comment: Son of Thomas, the 1790 census lists him with 1 male over 16 and 5 females. A Samuel McCracken is recorded as a civilian in 1772, 1785, 1786, and 1788 which could be him and/or his nephew. His daughter Agnes was appointed administratrix on 15 Dec 1794 another daughter, Eleanor challenged it on 18 Dec 1800. He first appears as a Ranger in John Neilson's Company 9 Jul 1776 and received a certificate dated 25 Apr 1781 for 12 days Militia duty in that month as a Sergeant signed by Capt. Hugh Gaston. In 1784 he was a Sergeant in Middagh's Company and elected Ensign in the 2nd Battalion in 1785. On 19 May 1786 he was an Ensign in the 3rd Company and finally, in 1790, he was a Lieutenant in the 3rd Company, 7th Battalion. Wife Jerusha McIlhenny. Ch. Agnes, James, Elenor and William.
